I grew up in Erie, PA, graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Notre Dame and received an M.S. in Business Administration from Robert Morris University. Following active duty in the Air Force as a Missile Launch Officer, I worked for consulting engineering firms as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, Division Manager and Vice President on civil/environmental projects. These projects included industrial wastewater design for firms such as IBM, RCA, Caterpillar: hazardous waste management and remediation for many organizations such as US Steel, Allegheny Intl., Koppers and NJDEP; municipal water and wastewater design for Pittsburgh, Tampa, Toronto, Indianapolis and Columbus OH and numerous other cities. In 2004 we moved to the Virginia Tidewater area and started a civil/environmental firm to serve local municipal, commercial and corporate clients for water and wastewater systems, civil design and land development. Being located in the Chesapeake Bay area, we became very aware and sensitive to the fragile nature of the ecosystem and the extreme measures required to restore a damaged environment to continue to support mankind and the natural ecosystem itself. When we moved to Clark County in 2001, we were alarmed at the lack of appreciation for the likely impacts of commercial and land development activities and the cursory nature of government oversight into activities that can have a severe and permanent impact on groundwater, wetlands, storm water and other environmental media.
